About Gout
The most common symptom of gout, which afflicts about three-quarters of gout sufferers, is excruciating pain in the joint at the base of the big toe. However, joints in other parts of the body including the feet, hands, wrists, knees, shoulders, and elbows are fair game for gout attacks. Joints can become so swollen and inflamed that the patient develops a fever and chills.
Gout comes on very suddenly, produces severe pain, and usually lasts three to five days if untreated. However, flare-ups frequently recur and last even longer.
"My big toe was in horrible pain, so i went to emergency room. Dr diagnosed gout in my foot and gave me pain killers. I did some googling and found goutezol. I like that it's natural with no chemicals in it. Ive been taking it for about 6 months and so far no attack, and my doc confirmed lower uric acid in my blood. thank you!" Jeff, NY
There are several conditions that can result in gout, but the primary cause is an abnormally high level of uric acid in the blood, either from the body's producing too much or from the body's not excreting it properly. Gout is more common in men than in women, possibly because the female body eliminates uric acid more efficiently. The disease often strikes middle-aged males, especially men who are overweight and drink too much alcohol. But healthy people can develop gout, too. For instance, allowing yourself to become severely dehydrated may trigger an attack.
Although gout produces brutal pain, it is rarely life-threatening. However, the condition requires proper diagnosis and treatment by a doctor, who can rule out other causes of joint pain and prescribe effective medications. Once you've seen your physician, however, there are a few things you should do on your own.
1. Don't put any weight on the joint. This usually means staying off your feet as much as possible until the episode subsides. Any pressure you put on the joint will increase the pain and possibly damage the area further.
"I've been suffering from gout for over 3 years. I tried many different remedies. After taking your product for 20 days I felt the difference. I'm ordering 3 more bottles to make sure I'm not going to have attack any time soon." Bill, FL
2. Keep the joint elevated. Let gravity help reduce inflammation by slowing the rush of blood to the gout inflicted joint.
3. Immobilize the joint. The less you move the joint, the better it will feel. Simply lying still will help, though you may want to build a splint for the injured joint. Ask your doctor how, or consult a first-aid guide.
4. Take a nonprescription anti-inflammatory. Inflammation causes swelling, which worsens pain. Both ibuprofen and aspirin are anti-inflammatories, but when taken at low levels, aspirin may actually make the pain worse, so reach for the ibuprofen when treating gout.
5. Avoid icing or heating the area. Unlike other types of pain, gout doesn't respond well to heat or ice therapy.
6. Wear comfortable shoes. For gout sufferers, styles that offer a lot of room for the toes are the best choice.

What your doctor can do:
Diagnose gout by asking about your symptoms, doing a physical exam, and ordering laboratory blood tests as well as x-rays.
Prescribe any of several medications to relieve symptoms.
Prescribe medication to reduce uric acid, the chemical responsible for causing gout.
What you can do:
Rest the joint. The more you use it, the longer it will take to heal.
Use cold compresses for about 10 to 15minutes. DO NOT put ice directly on your skin. Put it in a plastic bag and wrap it in a towel.
Take the medicines your doctor has ordered.
Drink plenty of water, at least 10-12 glasses a day. This will help to prevent kidney stones.
Protect your joints from injuries.
Lose weight if you are overweight but do not "crash" diet. Extra weight is hard on the joints.
Avoid eating too many high-purine foods. These can trigger an attack. Foods to avoid include organ meats, sardines, anchovies, and legumes.
Avoid drinking excess alcohol, especially beer and wine. This can trigger an attack and make the condition worse.

Most of the treatment is a strict diet to limit foods that are high in "purines", which is a lot of foods! There is also medication you can take to bring down any inflammation. Talk with a doctor and nutritionist.

There are quite a number of herbs that can eliminate uric acid in the body that leads to gout; one is joe pye weed that grows along the side of the roads here in NC. There are also topical creams with essential oils that can help to break down the chrystals in the joints.

Cure 2: Wrap affected area in warm cabbage leaves as poultice.
Cure 3: To prevent, eat celery every day.
Cure 4: Avoid purines (protiens in red meats, meat broths, beans, chick peas).

Dear Friend,
Consume plenty of:
Fluids to dilute the urine and prevent the formation of kidney stones.
Try to drink 2 Qt( 2 Litres) a day. Gout sufferers should use only distilled alcohol in small amounts, if alcohol is a must. Caffeinated beverages can also increase the production of uric acid and impair its removal from the body.
Fresh fruits and vegetables ( except those high in purines) for vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre.
Limit Vegetables high in purines such as cauliflower, asparagus, green peas, spinach and mushrooms.
Avoid: completely: Foods with a high content of naturally occurrring chemicals called purines promote overproduction of uric acid in people with a tendency for gout. High purine foods include: anchovies, sardines, liver, kidney, brains, meat extracts, herring, mackerel, scallops, game , beer and red wine.
Moderately high purine content is found in whole grain cereals, wheat germ, and wheat bran, oatmeal, dried beans, and peas and mushrooms. Eat in moderation.
Completely avoid: Alcohol, Diuretics and aspirin drugs. Skipping meals, crash diets.
Black cherry juice is an old folk remedy for gout Eating cherries lowers uric acid levels. When cherries are not in season, purchase cherry fruit extract available at food stores. or drinking a half cup of cherry or blue berry juice a day. Blue berries and strawberries may have similar to those of cherries.
Eating pineapple or taking bromelain, an anti-inflammatory enzyme found in pineapple, is also said to work against gout.

When your big toe makes direct contact with a bedpost, it hurts. But when it is attacked by gout, you are talking serious pain. The instigator of this agony is a chemical called uric acid. When your body produces too much of the acid or your kidneys can't get rid of it fast enough, the excess crystallizes in and around your joints, most likely in the joint of your big toe. This buildup produces...
